#121 - What I Read

What I Read

I have now been writing Sycomore Saturday for over two years. One of the main benefits to writing for me personally is that it forces me to read through various blogs. I wanted to highlight a few of the blogs I look at regularly. Kitces.com

  • The website is really written to financial advisors but has some of the most complete information when it comes to personal finance. If there is ever a particular financial concept that you want to learn more about, just google the question and “Kitces” and it is very possible you will get an article on it. I highly recommend it if you are wanting to learn more about personal finance.

  • This website deals specifically with IRAs and other retirement accounts. The laws in personal finance are constantly changing and very complex. This blog helps sort through some of the nuances. They also have a discussion forum that you can post to for free. If you ever have a question regarding retirement accounts, I recommend posting to that forum.

  • Randy Alcorn frequently writes about faith and finance. This interaction is one that is very interesting to me and so I enjoy looking through his blog. He actually wrote my favorite book on the subject as well - Money, Possessions, and Eternity.

  • Ben Carlson frequently uses charts to tell a story which makes this a fun blog to review.

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you have a wonderful start to 2022!

A Wealth of Common Sense - My Favorite Charts of 2021

  • Ben walks through his favorite charts of the past year.

  • Sarah lists some possible changes on the horizon.

Eternal Perspective Ministries - A Journey of Generosity

  • Randy highlights a video about a couple discussing generosity. I think it is good to hear stories of people giving as it is encouragement to be generous yourself.
